Before removing your tooth, your dentist will give you a local pain-killer to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. A stronger, might be used, particularly if one or two or all of your teeth need to be removed. General pain-killer prevents pain in the whole body and will make you sleep through the process.
After the tooth is removed, you might need stitches. You can gently bite down on a cotton lower pad placed over the wound to help to stop the bleeding. The removed tooth can get replaced with an implant, a denture, or a bridge. A bridge is an alternative to several (though not all) of the teeth and might be permanent or removable.
